The video platform is improving the visibility of labels for photorealistic videos made with AI and will automatically detect AI-generated videos.

YouTube is looking to make it easier for users to tell if a video was made using generative AI tools. The platform already requires creators to disclose any use of realistic-looking AI. Now, YouTube will analyze videos to look for signs of AI-generated content.

Creators are expected to disclose their own AI use. If they fail to do so, YouTube's systems could detect it and automatically apply the labels.

YouTube is making a more concerted effort to disclose to viewers when they are watching videos made with AI. In a blog explaining the update Wednesday, the Google-owned video giant said “photorealistic and meaningfully AI altered or generated content” would receive more prominent labels.
